Introduction
Responding to an identified need in the local community Glenabbey established a professional counselling service in 1998. In the warm and friendly atmosphere of our counselling rooms highly qualified counsellors regularly deal with those with emotional, physical, spiritual, social or relational needs.

People are accepted as they are regardless of background or experience and we provide this counselling service completely free of charge. We regard confidentiality as being of the utmost importance and respect the individual's ability to make decisions and promote control over their own life.

What you can expect
The first session is used for the assessment of your situation and following this the counsellor will offer further sessions for counselling if it is felt this is needed. Sessions will then be arranged on a regular basis and each session will last approximately 50 minutes. Counselling will continue by mutual agreement. You may of course choose to terminate counselling or the counsellor may suggest consultation with other relevant specialist agencies.

Counsellors
Glenabbey has a team of professionally trained and accredited counsellors. They work using a variety of counselling models such as psychodynamic, person-centred, cognitive behavioural, and integrative. The counselling team work with clients with a wide range of issues - depression, anxiety, grief, relational difficulties, phobias, adult survivors of childhood abuse to name but a few.
