Glenabbey Church, Northern Ireland
We regularly meet in Glengormley

Glenabbey is people. It is people who are united by our commitment to Jesus Christ as the unique Son of God and by our desire to live out this commitment both as individuals and as a spiritual family in the greater Belfast area.

Our mission

Our mission is to see more people become mature and devoted followers of Jesus Christ. At the heart of that mission is the good news message - the Gospel. We seek to learn it, live it and share it in way that is sensitive to our local cultural context in the conviction that Jesus Christ is the hope of the world.

Our meetings

We meet together as one large community in a warehouse in Newtownabbey. If you join us you can expect a combination of prayer, singing to God and teaching from the Bible - and good coffee! The music is contemporary and the teaching seeks to explain the Bible and demonstrate its relevance to real life.
We also meet in smaller groups in homes scattered throughout the area which provide a key context for integration, the fostering of spiritual growth and the building of lasting spiritually-based friendships. As the church continues to grow our home groups become increasingly important to individual spiritual growth and to the development of healthy spiritual community.

Our ministries

Glenabbey is committed to and relies heavily upon the active and sacrificial participation of our membership in all aspects of our life. Without this the church would not function. Each ministry area is served by a team of committed members, supported by a number of part-time and full-time staff. The core leadership team of the church is our elders. They are responsible for the overall vision, direction and spiritual care of the church, overseeing our teaching and our practice.

Our identity

Many people ask us “What kind of church is Glenabbey?” There is no short-hand way of describing the church. We do not go under a denominational label although we have good friendships with other local churches. The best way of finding out what we are like is to come along on a Sunday morning (at 9.30 or 11.30) and see for yourself. We warmly invite you to do that.
