Glenabbey Church, Northern Ireland
We regularly meet in Glengormley

God’s great goal is to bring people from all nations, languages and ethnic groups to know Him. Jesus passed on His mission to save lost people to the Church, telling them to spread the good news about Him throughout their own region and across the whole world. Mission is therefore at the core of what Church is, and Glenabbey seeks to be part of God’s mission to the world.

We engage as a church in mission beyond our immediate area in a number of ways, which are listed below.

Short Term Missions

We encourage our members to take some time to travel to other parts of the world and help with missionaries or churches in different countries. We aim to send teams for short term missions every year. For more information about short term missions being planned in the future please contact the Missions team.

Praying for persecuted Christians in other countries

We have a support group dedicated to praying for and informing Glenabbey about the persecuted church.  This group is led by Martin Spence and Mark Stevenson and meets once per quarter.

Glenabbey Healthcare

We are a group of people using our day to day healthcare skills to ‘love our neighbours’. There are forty to fifty of us so far, comprising various healthcare professionals, both experienced and in training.

We work with established agencies on various healthcare projects and aim to support and encourage each other to think with a world-wide view about our service for God. We are involved in India, Peru, Russia, Uganda, Romania, Ethiopia and Nigeria and partner with organisations such as Acts of Mercy, Latin link, Love Russia, AIM, Kids Alive and Mission Africa.

If you would like to know more please email us your name, experience and e-mail address to receive quarterly updates, eg.,  our November 2009 update. Alternatively please see Sharon Seymour (GP), Pamela Kirkpatrick (Nurse. Lecturer) or Richard McBride (Dentist).
