Induction courses are intended to help people move towards a deeper engagement with the Christian faith. They are open to anyone and include:
Christianity Explored
An eight-week course based around the book of Mark, examining the identity, claims and message of Jesus Christ. Each week includes a meal so that participants don’t have to rush to get there, a thought-provoking talk and time in group discussion.
First Steps
An opportunity for new Christians to think about how they can begin to grow in their faith. This is a six-week course based around discussion.
Baptism Preparation
These classes are for Christians who are considering baptism: what it means and whether they should go ahead with it. Attendance at classes is essential for people wishing to be baptised in Glenabbey.

This is the pathway to increasing involvement in Glenabbey, starting with finding out about the church and considering membership to serving and on to leadership. With the exception of Activate, people are normally expected to complete the courses in the order below.
Discover Glenabbey
A five-week course introducing you to Glenabbey. The course does not automatically lead to membership of the church, but completion is required prior to applying for membership.
Foundations for Ministry
A ten-week course based on the book of Romans providing people with a firm biblical and theological basis for service in the church. The course is divided into two modules.
Learning to Lead
An opportunity for people considering or involved in leadership positions to think through what spiritual leadership is and how they can be most effective in leading others and planning programmes within a strategic framework.
Activate
A five-week course helping you to discover how God has designed you and how you can use your unique gifts, personality and experiences to serve Him. Activate can be undertaken by anyone at any stage.

The Bible is foundational to everything we do in Glenabbey. We want to help Christians to understand and apply the Bible’s message and to prepare to share it with others.
Getting the Message
This course, which is open to anyone, is designed to help you develop your understanding of how to study a book of the bible. It emphasises the core principles involved in Bible study while at the same time involving you in the personal study of a particular book of the bible. The course runs for five weeks.
Open to Question
Open to Question aims to address questions or challenges there are to the Christian faith. At each event an invited speaker provides a Christian response to the topic in question. This is followed by an opportunity to question or debate with the speaker.
Open to Question provides an opportunity for anyone who might wish to see what Christianity has to say about itself and how it relates to the issues affecting the world today.

The Christian Mind
The Christian Mind events in Glenabbey are designed to help Christians think through and discuss their faith. It aims to provide an opportunity to explore specific moral, ethical and theological issues in greater depth.

John is married to Lynne and they have 2 children, Charlotte and Sam. John is employed as a Senior Manager in Royal Mail looking after Sales and Marketing in Ireland. Previously he has taught English, RE and Drama at Belfast Royal Academy and also taught at RBAI. John is currently heading up our equipping ministry.
David is married to Vivienne and they have three adult children. Formerly in management in the IT industry, he is now on the full-time staff of Glenabbey, where his responsibilities include managing the staff, leading Missions and assisting in pastoral care.
